Driven by its purpose, ‘to make a sustainable difference by building a multinational with a heart’, Walraven is committed to making a sustainable impact from a human, economic, environmental and governance perspective since its foundation.
To reinforce this commitment, on 23 April 2021, Walraven officially signed the pledge of the Family Business for Sustainable Development (FBSD). FBSD is a global initiative developed by the United Nations and the global Family Business Network in 2019 with the purpose to activate family-owned businesses to embed sustainability into their business strategies. The companies within the network commit to concrete and measurable indicators that support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) defined by the United Nations.
The Family Business Network itself, founded in 1989 in Switzerland, already has a long history in terms of guiding businesses to create stakeholder value and shared prosperity. Today, it brings together over 4,000 family business from 65 countries.
“Sustainability and long-term thinking come naturally to us from the start, and the measurement of sustainability indicators is integrated into our company strategy. By signing the pledge and joining the FBSD community, we want to reinforce our dedication to create sustainable value and liaise on sustainable development practices in the interest of all our stakeholders.”, Joop Standaert, Chief Financial Officer, J van Walraven Holding.
