On paper, this project seemed straightforward, a typical installation of photovoltaic panels on the roof of a local school located in Gran Canaria. But before we got to work, an on-site visit made us rethink the project entirely.
During our on-site visit, we were able to determine the type of roof on the school building. It was an older roof that required special care to prevent damage. Therefore we had to avoid any perforation on the roof of this school building. The safety of both the building and its occupants were our top priority.
From the engineering department, a fixing system was designed to avoid drilling on the roof, making the fixings on the sides of the building. Our Walraven RapidStrut® range was used, and through the use of rails, welded supports and fixing elements, a durable and efficient structure was achieved without the need to drill holes in the deck.
Thanks to our roof support systems, we could carry out the installation avoiding any type of perforation in the roof. The most important parts of the solution were chosen with Walraven BIS UltraProtect 1000® surface finishing to have better corrosion resistance.
