How to install a fire tested system correctly
It’s a common misconception that you can install products that have been fire tested, in any configuration, and that the resulting installation will therefore be fire rated. This is not the case.
To achieve a fire rated installation, the products MUST be installed in a configuration that has been fire tested by the manufacturer. This is because the way the products are installed will influence their ability to withstand the fire. For example, if additional loads are added, exceeding what was tested for, then the installation is likely to fail sooner than indicated in the test.
Always refer to manufacturer guidelines and fire test reports BEFORE you begin installing, to ensure your configuration meets the test criteria for a fire rating.

Advanced anti-corrosion treatment
Walraven RapidStrut channel is available in multiple finishes including:
- Pre-galv
- Walraven BIS UltraProtect® 1000 (BUP1000)
- Stainless steel
The BUP1000 finish is our standard alternative to HDG channel. This unique finish was developed to offer a better corrosion resistance than HDG. Whilst HDG channel will last up to 600hrs salt spray test, Walraven’s BUP 1000 channel withstands a salt spray test of at least 1000 hours.
This makes Walraven RapidStrut (BUP 1000) suitable for C1-C4 environments. Find out more about BUP1000.
